Pakistan, Switzerland Hold Second Call on US-Iran Peace Push

(MENAFN) Pakistan and Switzerland held a second high-level phone conversation within 24 hours on Saturday, focusing on developments in ongoing efforts to secure a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, amid reports of a possible signing in Geneva.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke again with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. Both sides welcomed what they described as encouraging progress in negotiations aimed at reaching an understanding between Washington and Tehran.

The two ministers expressed optimism that continued diplomatic engagement could soon contribute to improved stability and peace in the Middle East. They also agreed to maintain close communication as discussions continue.

The latest exchange followed an earlier call between the two officials a day before, during which Cassis reportedly praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating contacts between the parties involved in the negotiations.

Pakistan has been involved in supporting diplomatic communication between the sides since helping mediate a ceasefire in April.

The renewed talks come after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Friday that the United States and Iran had agreed on a “final text” for a potential accord aimed at ending the conflict.
